What is the English Second Language program?

English Second Language or ESL is provided for people whose first language is not English. This program has been provided at St Paul’s Chatswood for over 10 years. It is not a formal course but is more an opportunity for conversation, meeting and talking to qualified native English speaking people. They provide friendship and practical assistance for everyday living in Australia. The program covers, at your particular level, areas of conversation, reading, listening and writing skills.

With only 1 hour per week, it is no substitute for a full course in English as a second language. But over the years many have benefited from this program.

Since this is being offered at a Christian Church we provide some teaching in Christianity and the Bible.

Who can attend?

ESL is open to all adults over the age of 18 who have a desire to learn English.

St Paul’s Chatswood is...

...a community of men, women, boys and girls who have been redeemed by God the Father through the finished work of our Saviour, Jesus Christ, on the Cross. Through faith in him we have been forgiven, cleansed of guilt and adopted into the family of God’s much-loved people. He has set us free from our ungodly past so that we might now represent him to the dying world around us—loving and serving others as Christ has loved and served us.
